Matchday Thread Plastics v PNE - 31/01/25 -KO:8pm

They can rearrange themselves in what order they fucking like, but bringing on a poorer player we’re trying to offload instead of better one who’s just signed a new deal was never a good move, with the benefit of hindside or otherwise.

It's a different role, like it or not. Lindsay is better in the middle. He's consistently dogshit as a wide centre back who has to cover behind a wingback. Straight choice between them, Whatmough is better in that specific position of right sided CB.

that all their man of the match did all night..... and he's slower than LL

If we can force the opposition into nothing but long balls to a striker with no holdup play, we could play Andy Boyle there and make him look a world beater. Piece of piss job when the other lads have to do all the running and covering for you.

Their man of the match was surely Brittain or Gueye, I don’t consider either of them to be slower than Lindsay?

The game against them at Deepdale,LL had their dangerman who had scored quite a few goals at that point and had reasonable pace and skill in his pocket.
They took him off in the second half. When Storey got injured on Friday LL was the player to replace him, he has all the physical attributes and aerial ability to handle Gueye.
LL could have played as the central defender, Lewis Gibson who can use his right foot and with his ability on the ball could have slotted in on the right hand side.

Lindsay as an outside CB is terrible. Worse than Whatmough. Putting him on the right side would make that even more tragic.

Yes he would've dealt better with Gueye, and would've been better aerially, but people are forgetting the big weaknesses it would've then opened us up to. Like watching him up against Hedges.

Gibson at RCB wouldn't have changed all that much as he's no Lindsay in the air. Maybe a better play than what Whatmough turned out to be, but we won't know. Nor would any manager really be putting a left footed CB on the right of a back 3, when you've got a right footer available.
