Matchday Thread PNE v Charlton Athletic - 14/01/25 - KO:7.45pm

A win would be great, just to boost confidence but if I'm honest it isn't a real priority for me. Improving league position is far more important.

Strongest team please.

A run in the FA Cup will at least provide some excitement in the 2nd half of a drab season.

Yeah, season is over bar the Cup - and with the way the 4th round draw came out favouring progression, tonight is a must-win.

Save the youths for the Central League challenge and "Premier League Cup".

Don't get a trophy for getting tonked by a Prem team in round 5 or the QF.
No but we get exposure, prize money and lets be fair, a decent day out in R5 and maybe beyond.

Still, we can always instead muster the yearly challenge for 12th if that floats your boat!

A very interesting aspect of tonight’s game will be team selection.
If we weren’t in a transfer window and looking to make changes then certain players who haven’t had much game time would definitely be considered.
However if we are trying to offload any of them it’s a big gamble playing them and risking an injury.

Seeing youth players get a run out is the only interest tonight's game would hold for me. I see cups as just a platform to embarrass ourselves.

Fulham was decent and then we just threw in the towel in the next round. Shite.

Not being video streamed in UK, audio only on iFollow, I think Radio Lancs commentary will work online for Cup games too, not sure.

Which youth players would you think are up to playing a league one team at the moment.

I am not sure we have any.

Don't know until they do. Why bother putting Nelson on the bench if he's shit and won't make it?

I'd rather get a chance to go to a ground I havent been to, than watch some youth lads who'll be playing for Prescott Cables in 4 years have a kick about
As long as it's not a Prem ground, as that's money down the shitter.
