Stuart Beavon

But people don't seem to consider that Wycombe have to accept an offer, and this takes time, and also restricts it from being down to the player as suggested by a poster I quoted, as it's down to who bids the highest like any of the other transfers dealing that we used to be involved in.

We can agree a deal with Beavon whilst we're in negotiations over a fee with his club.

I'm not saying I don't want him, just saying his decent scoring was only for one season so he isn't consistently proven.

A consistently proven League 1 player would be some one like Jordan Rhodes or someone who would be looking for a step into Championship football or with a massive price tag.

He is free and has show he CAN do it.

As explained above, that is not true. He's out of contract in 2013.

You've always got to be a bit wary of a striker who's only had one good season. He may of scored 21 in 43 games in the league last season, but the year before he scored 3 in 37, and the year before 3 in 25. He isn't an up and coming kid who's just honing his game either.

He may well carry on scoring for fun, or he may revert to the level of previous seasons. No way of knowing which, so while I would welcome his signing as he's a striker in form, I'd still say it's a bit of a gamble.

I can't see anything in this rumour whatsoever. He's in contract. And he won't be cheap. Wycombe will want to hold out for for anywhere from 250k to 750k dependent on how desperate they are. (I believe they are still stuck under a transfer embargo at minute in terms of incomings) Millwall supposedly bid for Beavon a few weeks ago and one or both of the Sheffield clubs were alledged to interested too.

I don't personally think the player at 28 years old is worth that kind of investment anyway - he's had one good season at this level after two abject seasons with Wycombe. Prior to that he scored a bagful at non league level but that doesn't neccesarily mean he will ever be prolific at League One or Championship level.

With you on this pal.
