Having been involved in Sunday League football for around 13 years, I packed it in in 2017. At my old team I had been a player, secretary, treasurer, assistant manager and manager and you know what? I miss it.

So, me and the lads are getting a new team together, can't give away too much detail yet but we'll be a pub team playing for a team in town. (Pub have asked us to keep it quiet till a sponsorship deal is agreed).

We're looking for players, possibly a player/assistant manager and a treasurer and secretary (or both jobs could be done quite easily by the same person). Other volunteers who would like to help with kit and equipment or running the line etc would also be welcomed.

We'd also be open to other local businesses who may be interested in sponsoring the team, we can discuss different options for shirt/shorts teamwear sponsorship etc.

We're aiming to join the Preston Sunday League next season.

Great opportunity to spend time with mates and make some new ones, keep fit and enjoy the game we all love at true grass roots level.

If anybody would like to get involved or would like any more info, give me a shout.

Cheers.

I can't run, about as stiff as Ron Jeremy's cock in his prime, my first touch has disappeared, my shooting is wayward and I'm knocked over by a stiff breeze. Brilliant footballing brain though.

When do you want me to start?

We could be the first Preston Sunday League Division 4 side with an analyst...

Like a few posters on here, my playing days are over, I’m just plain jealous tbh.

Enjoy!

You could be the unofficial PNE online team. 🙂

Loved my days playing boys/youth/Sunday league footy, great memories. I'll ask my son and his mates for you - all are about 20/21 year olds and decent players. Good luck with it.

That'd be great Harry, as an incentive you can tell him/them that the pub is a great sports bar type place (wish I could say where) and that the idea of food and drinks discounts for players is currently being discussed...

That might lure them in!

Good luck @MBcha

43 now and my knees are gone So fortunately for you, I can’t help!

What team did you play for pal?
I wasn't much of a player so knocked about as a bit part player at a few sides, then settled at Preston Guild where I ended up treasurer, secretary, assistant manager and eventually manager.

If only! Was involved in the LEP Sunday League for 20 odd years, playing until my late 30's before turning to management, however, having invested so many years of my life to it I packed it in early 2000's due to a lack of commitment by the youth of the day! Every Sunday morning you just never knew who would bother to drag their carcass out of bed and bother to turn up! Still miss it mind....hope it works out for you!

Ballers Ballers.

I could actually do with some excersise @MBcha, let us know when your first training session is. I'll happily come embarrass myself!

Will drop you a PM pal.

Had a couple of messages so far from people looking to play so just giving this a little bump up if anybody else fancies it (or keeping it in your mind if you're thinking about it, still ages till we'll start playing).

We really need a secretary too, it doesn't involve much, maybe an hour a week just to keep things ticking over. I've done the role myself in the past so if anybody would like any info I can let you know more details.

Cheers.

I don't think the league allow pub names these days so you'll probably need to think of a different name if the one you were planning on using includes the name of it...
