Matchday Thread Swansea City v PNE - 19/04/23 - KO:19:45 - Championship

I’m actually at Swansea’s stadium this morning for an event. Have to head back up north after it though (shit fan) 😭

If only the fixture gods had been kinder 😆

Not a great start for those heading to Wales.

Not feeling it tonight. Thought this was the most difficult game on paper with their upturn in form and our horrible record in South Wales.

With results going our way last night, North End will do what they do best and get beat.

They have had an upturn in form but 3 of their 4 wins have come against Cardiff, Wigan and Huddersfield which everyone has slated us for. Before that they’d lost 7 in 9. Hopefully they’re starting to enter beach mode.

I think we do them tonight.

We’ve been playing with confidence, going after teams and creating chances lately. Hopefully the Millwall defeat hasn’t changed that as we need both confidence and momentum going into the last 4 games.

Tonight we need to take our chances as we may not get many. That was the only difference against Millwall. They had very few chances but scored them, we didn’t. The teams that will finish in the playoffs are the ones that take their chances. We need Parrott fully switched on as a lot goes through him at the moment.

Our record against Swansea at their place is horrific... but look on the bright side... we can say that we've won 50% of our matches there this decade!

Swansea in decent form at the moment, and our record at their place isn't great, but still hopeful we'll get something tonight, it's odd because I'm usually a pessimist

Lets hope we are flying back with 3 points.

This is hardly the same as some teams going a hundred miles by plane... and selfishly, I'm kind of glad we're flying, given the busy week... at this crucial time of the season. But I think we need to be putting rules in place to prevent this for all clubs.

A win is a must tonight and not just a win but a convincing one. Nearly all those around us have far better goal differences and this could be critical come the last game. Tonight is a great chance to beak another of those hoodoos and thrash the taffys. COYW

Only Blackburn are realistically catchable on goal difference... so I won't be calling for all out attack in the last ten minutes if we're winning by one!

Lose tonight and we somewhere 10th - 12th
Draw tonight and we're 8th or 9th
Win tonight and we're 6th or 7th. - or 5th if we improve our goal difference by winning 15-0... 🙂

Not concentrating on my day very well!

Probably too late to bridge the goal difference gap except the one with Rovers which a 2 goal victory against them would probably swing it in our favour.

It's in our own hands, Swansea have nowt to play for, they fanny about at the back trying to play out, press them high, harass them, force errors and we will win.

We score 1st, we don't lose (SKY had a stat t'other day that when we have scored 1st - 12 times - we have won 11 and drawn 1).

Mental damage limitation mode for me , convince myself we have lost and anything else is a bonus
