It would still be McCann for me as captain. But if Thor was to get the armband, I wouldn't be driven to quaffing Toilet Duck. He had a great game today, building on a solid performance at Stoke. Long may it continue.

I honestly feel he will be playing in the prem next season whether with villa or a newly promoted club. People say he can’t make it yet. He absolutely can.

He’s on another level to Fernandez and SVB who both joined at a similar age. The only criticism is I feel he needs to get more goals/assist being a wing back but his all round play is superb.

I remember the rave reviews about Reece James at Wigan a few years ago. This lad is better. People may think I am over rating him a bit but sometimes you just know. Like with Pickford.

He is nowhere near as good as Reece James was at Wigan. I'd put him on a par with SvdB, and above Fernandez.

He's also 3 years older than James was.

He'll be a solid Prem player, but we've got an abundance of right sided defenders in the national team.
 
Always looked like a player was there. Thor was not given any time to settle by some fans. He has all the attributes. Hope he pushes on from here. Should be starting our midfield with him and McCann from now and benching Whiteman

To be fair I thought Reece James was about 28. Didn’t realise he was only 24. I thought he was the same age as KKH is at Wigan.

However always seems to be injured.

Yeah the guy is just made of glass.

Happens a lot with very athletic players, seemedly almost too explosive for their own body to handle

Reece James would be the best right-back in world football right now were it not for his body. Effortless class when 100% fit.

Remember a CL game between Chelsea and Madrid where Benzema actually sought him out after the game to swap shirts with him

Absolutely.

Play your best, on form players to give you the best chance of winning.

Sentiment and loyalty take second place if you want to succeed.

Great to see Thor play so well and have such a positive impact these last two matches and hope that he, PH and the team build on this.
 
It’s his constantly showing for the ball and willingness to turn that impressed me so much.

Compare to Whiteman who either positions himself behind a player or plays with his back to goal, looking for a layoff to a centre half and not progressing us at all

I find it alarming that the appointed club captain was subbed at halftime again deservedly, twice in 4 matches. Must make a change there but imagine they’ll wait to not rock the boat too much, big changes coming hopefully in January and the summer
