Trainspotters

It was "Black Five" (are we still allowed to call them that?) 45212. Such a shame, the light was perfect for a sunset shot when it was due past.

Departing at 08:24 as 6Z72 Colas Ribble Rail to Carlisle New Yard"

Spotted this book, not sure if anyone has a copy
Looks really interesting

I don't have a copy but it looks interesting. Funnily enough I saw this, from the same publisher, last week. It's a touch expensive though.

What's the date again?

Haha yeah not quite April Fools, but why on earth can't a little widget attached to the trains do this??

Or a fella hanging out of the window with a paint brush gaffa-taped to a broom handle? (That's how I paint the hard-to-reach bit above the stairs.)

I saw the white paint just outside Lancaster station the other day. It's only around the points though, which possibly explains why they can't (or isn't worth) mechanising it.

Hi gang
What do we think this is ?
Possibly from a points / signal building ?

Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Company. It definitely looks like signal placements (the black bar in the centre) and points placements ( the brass bar to the left). Upper centre right, it looks like two signal arms, one in red and one in yellow. It certainly looks like equipment removed from a decommissioned signal box in the Horwich area.

Very nice picture, sir 👍

Thanks my friend. Good knowledge

York railway museum
I think he’s a bit more knotted hanky and deck chair
I didn’t know Ando was a fan of jugs of tea on Blackpool Sands, would have thought he would have been more of a Southport person (as in Lancashire, not Merseyside) 🤔 I could see him quaffing red wine outside some trendy wine bar on Lord Street, being all Mediterranean like 🙂
