Vaping… What’s the reality ?

I love talking to clots that want to ban things they know nothing about....... But they saw it on the news. 😀

No... That's fucked your argument right up. 😀

Well who is Mr Angry tonight ?????

Not aware I was arguing.

And you are correct, I’m no authority on vaping, but the way it is marketed to CHILDREN with sweetie flavours is wrong.

And the selling point in that it’s safer than smoking cigarettes has been distorted into a whole new addictive problem especially for kids.

That’s my view.

You can have yours.

But don’t start having a personal pop at me if your views are different.

If you think it’s a good thing for kids being marketed too like this I’m happy to see your reasons.

My take on Vaping is that, there is still not enough info around as to what the long term issues will be but that generally the medical profession encourage smokers to switch to Vaping if they cannot stop altogether. They certainly did that with my Son who at least doesn't smell like a walking ashtray anymore!
In respect of young ones starting who never smoked before - they are only going to be the ones who in the past would have been smoking at the back of the bike sheds at 14, back in the Day.
What i was more concerned about walking the Dog on Morecambe prom last night was passing two 11 or 12 year olds smoking spliffs, with the sickly smell of cannabis.
Virtually everywhere you go, these Days you can smell it!

Stupid bloody thread then wasn't it? Agreed? 🙂

At the Missus school they’ve had parents called to say vapes have been confiscated from their kids and the parents come in to claim them back as they are more expensive refillable vapes that they bought for their kids in the first place as cheaper than the disposable ones in shops . That’s a dead middle class school in a market town in the New Forest, god knows what it’s like elsewhere

I tell you what its easy to talk about vaping, even smoking but has anyone ever thought about oxygen?

We all breath that in and we all end up dying.

Its seriously time this was looked into 🙁

Apparently about 2/3rds of the single use vapes being sold contain a chemical that can cause a condition called "popcorn lungs" (based on the x-ray images they produce). At it worst, this can lead to the lung having to be removed or even death (as per Radio 2).

You can get plenty that don't really smell of anything and they were rampant in my last school, even non smoker kids used them.

I would ban all the flavoured ones.

Just have fag flavour.

Bubblegum flavour ? Really ?????
Obviously for the youth market. That tells us who they are targeting.
Because there's no stale-tobacco smell on clothes ( & breath ? ) like there was with fags, parents won't be aware of their children's Nicotine addiction.

What the long-term health effects actually are - how long has it ' caught-on '. / been fashionable up to now ? About 4 years ?
What is 'long term' - a decade ?

(I don't even know the legality of vaping - I don't know the age that anyone can legally do it - or the age when an official adult can legally offer a 'go' (?) to someone of a younger age, tbh ).
They must be taxed at a much lower rate than factory-made, filter-tipped cigarettes , which now have a very high rate of taxation.

But is vaping bad for anyone's health ?

How can repeatedly breathing in chemical deep into your lungs be considered safe? It's only a matter of time before something turns up

Obviously it’s a concern for you Raef this oxygen thing, try giving it up for an hour and see if it’s good for you…

I don’t agree Lib, I think it’s a real issue with potentially serious health consequences, and something that not enough research has been done to the long term effects, with suitable legislation painfully slow to deal with the subject.

And as it’s largely targeted at young people it’s causing a possible long term addiction problem.

With so many syndromes and psychological issues being diagnosed in young people further intake of chemical products without any research could be highly likely to expand the health problems of the next generations.

But you can ignore it if you wish Lib, your choice.

The NHS promote vaping (in adults) over smoking due to the massive reduction in toxic chemicals inhaled.

A disposable vape costs as little as £4 and would last up to 2 days. They are filled with a mix of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, with flavours added. All these products are food safe products that are used widely in the food industry.

What people need to be aware of is, uncertificated products I.e. under counter or cheap imports. These can contain a whole host of poisons and toxins.

Only the future will tell us whether using these products was safe or not.
