What should PNE do about recruitment?

I wonder over his tenure just how many players he's signed, that where never up to first team standard and we've just ended up paying up or letting go.
It must amount to multi millions!!!

This isn't my research, but someone very well respected/ knowledgeable sent it to me the other day.

Brace yourselves . . . since Ridsdale arrived, we have signed:

124 players from other clubs

44 have been loans

80 permanent signings

Only three of those 80 have left for significant fees (Cunningham, Hugill and Robinson)

58
have left for nothing (or nominal fees eg Bambo)

Even by Ridsdale's outdated Howard Wilkinson mantra 'three out of five is good' he's been a miserable failure.

Three out of 80? 😳

No wonder we've got a squad that is virtually worthless.

So next time he moans about the budget, FFP, etc - our Nepokid Chairman should bring up these transfer/player trading disasters and finally hold the useless old duffer to account.

He was on his way to Stoke City, and Cadiz were touting him around to create a bidding war and get a better deal last minute when Ridsdale came in with our club record please-forget-about-my-Tom-Cannon-fuck-up £2.15million offer. They are a recruitment agency, not scouts.

Where do you get all the information on MRKT Insights? Do you know them?

What do you class as a significant fee? Just because we sold Garner for over a million, then you have Davies and Slater or are we not counting them because they're youth prospects? Which is fine if you are.

Yeah I agree - that figure is quite subjective and misleading. No doubt it’s been a catastrophic failure though.

I’d be interested to see how many of those 80 signings have been sold for a profit.

The post is based on signings under Peter Ridsdale.

Neither Slater or Davies were signed by Peter Ridsdale. They were in the youth set up. Why would they be included in the figures? Its specifically in relation to players Ridsdale has brought to the football club.

Unless I have misinterpreted.

Garner was 1.7 mil and Davies was 500k (but he was our player anyway) hardly significant in reality the fact we are having to dredge out garners transfer to even make a point is embarrassing in itself. The lad left in 2016

But even say if we add this 3 that you mentioned into the equation 6/80 is hardly something to brag about

After a very quick scan of transfer mrkt (not perfect I know) all I can see is the following going back to 2014

Hugill (west ham)
Robinson (Sheffield United)
Pearson (Bournemouth)
Garner (rangers)
Cunningham (Cardiff)
Ben Davies (Liverpool) our player I know but we didn't pay out for him so profit is profit. can put slater to Brighton in the same category.

Other than nominal fees and such we haven't seen any significant money from transfers since Davies left in 20/21 season.

Thank Christ we are such a cash rich club and we don't need to be wise in our transfer dealings or anything.

Had a quick look though Wikipedia, so numbers might be suspect in places, and roughly this is the situation.

Profit:
Jeffrey Monaka
Joe Garner
Jordan Hugill
Greg Cunningham
Callum Robinson
Daryl Horgan
Bambo Diaby

Loss:
Chris Holroyd
Graham Cummins
Andy Procter
Chris Robertson
Daniel Johnson
Liam Grimshaw
Ben Pringle
Marnick Vermijl
Declan Rudd
Josh Harrop
Sean Maguire
Kevin O'Connor
Louis Moult
Billy Bodin
Connor Simpson
Graham Burke
Josh Ginnelley
Connor Ripley
Joe Rafferty
Tom Bayliss
Scott Sinclair

Undisclosed to Undisclosed (so I would appreciate others input):
Stuart Beacon
Stevie May
Ben Pearson
Eion Doyle
Darnell Fisher
Jayden Stockley

I suspect Pearson is probably the only profit making player in that last list, but again any input would be appreciated.

Please note as the question relates to signings this excludes youth players (e.g. Ben Davies, Josh Brownhill, Bailey Wright and Will Hayhurst) and players that were signed before Ridsdale (e.g. Paul Coutts). Obviously this isn't factoring wages etc nor the magnitude of profit and loss, although I'm sure we'll have broad consensus on what are and aren't significant profit and losses. Again clarifications are appreciated as the conclusions are drawn from Wikipedia.

In Championship terms, £1.6m for Joey isn’t significant (the fact that it is for us tells its own story).

The post I made was about players we’d signed from other clubs, hence no BD/JS (although again the fees - both less than £1m - were not significant for the level we’re at). 🤓

The decision needs to be made soon, to allow a proper professional recruitment process.

Letting Ridsdale cling on then ‘do a Lowe’ next June, followed by a rushed appointment is a recipe for disaster upon disaster.

Normally, a responsible board of directors would be doing what is best for the club.

Our bunch of placemen mutes (encouraged by the invisible chairman) seemingly only want what’s best for Peter Ridsdale.

History will not be kind.

“Placemen mutes” 🤣.

One or two factual inaccuracies and quite annoying presenter but he seems to have a pretty good handle on where we are as a club. Sadly, overall, there's not much I can disagree with.

Those are terrible statistics, and again over and over - WHY does the Hemmings family employ and continue to employ a guy in a senior management position who has such an awful record, and who would have been fired off years ago in any of their other Businesses.

Thank you for clarifying.

I do think there is a touch of unfair biased in your post, but only a touch doesn't really undermine the serious point.
