Whoever thought we could get away without strengthening the defence this transfer window needs to hang their head in shame.
If you haven’t got the roots of a tree well anchored it will blow over.
Exactly the position we find ourselves.
Jack whatmough offers no pace, no distribution and we’d better off without him.
Lindsay is out of his depth on this league.
Storey shows very poor intelligence on the pitch.
Walking disaster

Thats it exactly, i can live with players not having the pace but the intelligence is so so important as a centre back.

All 4 of the centre backs have glaring weaknesses.

I personally think Lindsay is a good defender at this level. Storey a decent back up, But all the others need replacing.

With a few additions of new defenders I think we’d be a very good outfit, but we failed to bring any in during the summer window and now have a very long wait till January to bring some in.

Why Ridsfail didn’t look to bring any in is beyond me, and if we are in the bottom half of the league in January then the blame is on him.

Never mind January the blame is his and the owners, going back a few seasons too. Lowe should have been moved on May 2024. New manger comes in, has full control of how transfer budget is spent and gas all, preseason to prepare a system for his team to play. Ridsdale should stay well clear of on tge pitch matters

So Kayden- Hesler is not strengthening our defence? However, if you don't play him you have a point

Quite - that situation would be fine if we had if we had a couple of agile, pacy defenders for respectively the right and left sides of the defence. Since we don't and seem unlikely to bring anybody in until at least the New Year we are going to have to improvise from existing resources. That means making use of Kesler-Hayden on both right and left, Potts and Whiteman on the right and maybe on occasion on the left Brady who was useful when he played on the left of the defence today. Maybe also Best should get some time on the left as well - yes he is inexperienced but the only way you gain experience is by having it.

Storey and Lindsay are fine for what we can afford on our budget. Hughes has replaced Cunningham in the brittle but use in emergency role.

Neither Bauer nor Whatmough have a place in a Championship squad, but that's who we have. Honestly I think we've gone from "having" to play a back 3, to simply not being able to play a back 3 if there's an injury to any one of the first choice 3...

we do have defenders there just 1 not very good or 2 not drilled & organised properly for this level of football yet give saggy-bottom a few months to get them drilled his way & see where we are at xmas (hopefully more mid table ish)

Depends if Ridsdale has given him a secret extension deal now he's started a game this season.

I guess that means he could be unless it’s a Bauer style contract.

Hopefully that means even with our one in one out policy that’s 2 new CBs.
