You know I have not seen one thread that has offered discussion regarding the merits of the two teams. Okay this is a local derby but it would be interesting to debate the season so far and the particular talents within the teams. What / who could be matchwinners, who will win the midfield battle and why - no all we get is you will get wet at our non league facilities etc etc etc - boring

No discussion to have regarding match winner. Mellor Hatrick game over

For some reason I have a feeling Mellor is going to do the business if he starts. I don't really think Shitpool have any individual superstars (Hoolahan last season) but like every team this season they could cause us a problem from set pieces in the blustery conditions, especially with Lonners coming out to 'claim' the ball. I feel if Ledger is put back to his best position (CB) and Chaplow starts in midfield then we have every chance to take all 3 points.

Alan Gow and Burgess have been fantastic upfront so far this season. As has Kabba when he's fit (He is for Sunday). David Vaughan has been an ideal replacement for Hoolahan.

We're a stronger team than last season, but we are starting to concede goals. Your defence has been a bit dodgy. I think we'll score. But whether you do, depends on what our defence play like. Like Birmingham, we'll win. Like Watford and it's a different story.

It is late and I'm tired but this thread sounds intelligent as a starter. My only ray of hope, for the moment, is that your keeper is on a "downer" at the present and I hope that Burgess will capitalise on that fact. BBB can be quite intimidating for the defence, especially in the air obviously.

If Lonny-lad plays we might be in with a chance but I am fully aware that YOUR fellas up-front will cause us problems with their pace (or lack of it 😛).

I was on a plane when the last match took place and apart from the score I only learned the details on Tuesday. What can you say - we were struggling and then when we finally got a team on the field in which the trio of Davidson, Chaplow and Brown were all present we shifted gear and went back to being what we were for the first half dozen matches of the season. With those three plus our other outstanding performers for the season who, on balance, are probably Jones, St Ledger, Sedgwick and Mellor we have the basis of a team that can match any other in this division.

But the basic fact remains - if Chaplow goes missing again then we will be back to improvising a central midfield that can get a grip on a game. That situation cannot be allowed to continue - it just too precarious. We still need another central midfielder with some presence and drive to give us strength in depth in that vital area of the team. If AI adds that element to the resources at his disposal then we can still make something really memorable and worthwhile out of this season. In the meantime we just have to hope that our key players - Davidson and Chaplow, especially - remain free of injury or suspension.

I'm in little doubt that we have the better players-but I believe at this moment in time that Blackpool have the better team. Hopefully I'm wrong......

I hope I'm wrong, but I think it will come down to which team makes careless mistakes & PNE have been riddled with them at times this season. If the lads can keep their concentration for 90+ mins then maybe we can nick a result. Personally I'm looking for a penalty from a Mellor/Elliott run or a bit of class from Chaps or Wallace

Come on North End!!

Lets compare.

Lonners v Rabs - BFC win, he's a much more confident keeper than yours at present and a better shot stopper overall in my opinion.

St Ledger v Evatt - Tough one to call, but unfortunately PKE win. Ledger holds his team together and i'm quite suprised he's not your armband bearer.

Brown v Edwards - PKE win again, but only because the lad was vital to Hull getting promoted last season.

Davidson v Camara/Coid - PKE win again, decent left back is the Scot.

Jones v Barker - PKE win, Barker has been shiote recently and a few friends of mine suggest Jones is one of your better players. I remember him scoring a few weeks back?

McKenna v Southern - Blackpool win! Southern is a player who gets everywhere and anywhere. I think he'd fit into about 75% of any team in the championship. A real grafter.

Chaplow v Jorgensen - PKE win, that's all.

Sedgewick v GTF - Blackpool win. His goals this season say it all. He's on fire, watch out for him knobbers.

Wallace v Vaughan - I'm going to controversially call this a tie, Mr Vaughan has been a class act this season and rarely is disposed from the ball. Wallace hasn't exactly set the championship alight, but i know he's a good player.

Brown v Gow - Alan Gow wins, he's fantastic. Brown is a decent player too, just not prolific enough.

Mellor v Burgess - Burgess wins.

I call that 5-5 knobbers if you don't include the draw.

It will be a closely fought game on Sunday. With three points there for either side.

I think we might finally get a game in which there are a few goals. Which way they will go is another matter, but if we take the field with a team that includes Davidson, Chaplow, Brown and Mellor I would be confident that we could find the net.

Please keep this thread near the top
The week leading up to a game against Blackpool is soooo boring, filled as the forum is with anything but discussion about the merits of the two teams and what is going to happen on the pitch.
