Whiteman

He can be total wank. You can only really judge him with a league 1 top level defence behind him and we don't currently have that even.

It always feel that Whiteman's individual game is hampered by the three clodhoppers behind him and the likes of Potts & Brady as outlets on the flanks, meaning he has to play things ultra safe.

He's largely there to make up for their lack of ability on the ball. But because the centrebacks can't push on to offer an option for a pass, he's left to pass backwards more often than not.

That said he turns 29 next summer and I think we may have already seen the best of him. And due to the master of contracts and smokescreens we still don't know how long he's even signed up for. The bizarre silence on that makes me think it's gonna be a case of... far too long.

I think the estimate at the time of signing was "at least 2028". But yeah, we were never officially told.

Fair points though too mate.

He's one of those I think we could get some money from if we wanted to sell him and I don't think it would be too hard to replace him if we wanted to invest more in the defence. He's not bad but I just don't think he has enough key attributes that are hard to replace.

Worst game I’ve seen him have for North End today; shirked responsibility on the ball, passed backwards/sideways far too often and showed zero leadership.

As soon as Freddie handed them the first goal, we absolutely crumbled like the very worst of the Lowe era days.

Whiteman had an absolute shocker.

He wasn’t alone in that, but as captain of a team with such a weak and fragile mentality, questions are inevitably going to be asked.

He needs to stop weaving the white flag and start acting like a leader.

Looking at the season ahead, we’re going to need a hell of a lot more backbone than he's shown today. 😤

Probably unfair to pick on Whiteman, especially after today, but he's just so vanilla. No idea what his stats say but surely there's better options.
