I guess by league position of the men's team we are by far top dog in that pond (mixing my metaphors)

Won the League three times in the past five years, and won the National Cat 3 Academy Cup twice recently too.

Think during that time there has only been the Seagull Draggers who have also been a Championship club in our League though, there aren't too many nationally either.

we dont seem to play Mansfield away so wonder if some of these are group cup games ?

Could well be, unless they've changed the League format and we play Home & Away against teams in the NW section, plus one game against teams in the NE section, ie Doncaster, Chesterfield, Notts County, Burton, Bradford, Lincoln, Mansfield, Hartlepool etc?

When you combine that with the lack of real top level transition to first team/ good level loans for our youngsters, I argue you have to come to the conclusion of a lack of ambition. We should be playing in a tougher league.

My issue is that when we do have u18/19 players that have potential, we don't have an u21/23 team that they can then join and play with/against young men to bridge the gap to League football. We play an entire team of kids against League team's reserve men in the Central League once a month or so.

good shout........ having done some sessional work @ Mansfield whilst working P/T for Gaz Brazil at Forest Academy it would have been good to pop back and see if Nigel Clough still asks his players to walk his dog during training sessions 🤣

Excellent point. We are missing that bridge between youth and first team.

Won't be able to do the updates this morning, but looking forward to seeing how we get on with a fresh crop of youngsters against new opposition.

Come on you whites!
