Youth Team & Central League Thread 2024/25

Thing is, I'd hazard a guess now , you'll have lower league teams actually watching this crop next game to see if it's worth a loan. I imagine Liverpool youth is watched all the time and now a much smaller club have pasted them, you'd expect it to not go unnoticed. However, the flip side is bigger clubs may try to poach as well and promise players and family the world to them and they leave pne for tuppence.

The likes of Liverpool have already scooped up our local talent LONG before they reach even the u18 stage, they're literally tracking them from u9s so by the time these players are in our team they've already been at the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Burnley etc and been released at 14/15...

Results in league games aren't really a guide to the strength of a youth side - many of ours were rested last Saturday for instance and they got thrashed. The same might well be true of Liverpool, they have that many players they can rest and rotate at will.

I'll wager that last night's team and the team they've done relatively with in Europe is their strongest. Some of their players obviously fancied themselves - the 11 for instance - but we were a team, a well coached and fit team.

When my lad was 11/12 years old he used to play for the schools town team…

One Saturday they were playing at Sefton and after the game a scout came and asked me if my lad would come for a trial at Mellwood…

My lad went but it was all a bit of a clique and he didn’t feel comfortable playing with a load of strangers who weren’t very welcoming…

Quite daunting for a young lad, so he never went again.

It is a very young inexperienced set of lads out there today - hopefully they can just write this off as a learning experience.
