January 2026 - Transfer Rumours and Discussions

"Heckingbottom's blunt eight-word response"... which he could apply to any transfer rumour.

Pretty much everyone on here said we needed another CB/LCB in the summer, and the fact we didn't get one is likely going to impact our season.

We play a back 3 every week, without fail, yet we only have 5 centre backs, and one of them has only ever been used at RWB.

Still the top priority.

Sheff Utd seemingly wanted all of Cannon’s wages paid and an obligation to buy for something silly. Obviously would’ve never happened.

But with Wilder now in, he’ll want to get in his own players in January. If we get manage to get Keane off the wage bill (easier said than done), I wouldn’t put a straight loan for Cannon outside the realms of possibility.

If he comes in and scores between 7-10 goals for us, someone will pay Sheff Utd very good money for him.

Hopefully we have some sense and sign a permanent CB in January like we did this year.

Keane won’t play this season. The new Bauer.

Wouldn't be against a quality backup option at CB.

Any news on the prospects of Cornell and Pradic? Looking to move them on perhaps seeing how Stowell is a constant starter for the youth team...

could be an interesting window. If we are up around where we are now, will the owners back the manager for a playoff push? It’s a very open championship this season so we may see whether they do have ambition, how much will the desire to sell the club impact this window? Also if Osmajic is out, a striker is an absolute priority.

I'd be happy in January with this. (1) and (2) are priorities positionally.

(1) Tom Cannon. He has a feel for this place and his spirits would surely light up knowing that he instantly has the fans onside.

(2) A new LCB so that Hughes, who has had a good season, can be rested at times.

(3) New homes for Keane, Cornell and possibly Brady.

(4) An official update on the supposed takeover interest. Hopefully a Cash Injection from any interested parties to fund January.

A word from the new Chairman would be nice.

The season so far has shown that Mads and Thor do not have the ability snd consistency to ever maintain the midfield levels of the loan players.
For their sakes and the club’s they need to be sold even though it will need another vital and massive recruitment campaign again to reach or improve upon the current midfield standard.
As others have stated Brady, Potts, Keane and Cornell need to be released at the end of the season.

Sounds like Potts has another year left after this season.

I think we'd have to settle for loaning Thor and Mads out. I'd imagine their wage is too high for the sort of clubs who'd be keen to take them. Unless it's a deal similar to Okkels, who we're probably still paying a percentage.
