Just a little ditty does any one know if christmas wrapping paper can be recyled in the same blue bag as the newspapers dont wish to risk prosecution for putting the wrong rubbish in the wrong pot although my nieghbour says that gift wrapping our trash is the next step also if we are to be nice and green why does the stuff have to go in plastic bags which take 999999 years to biodegrade And what about the plastic on the kids toys as if there is daylight around the dustbin lid its not taken which doesnt encourage fly tipping

From Preston City Council website

THE Christmas countdown is well and truly on and it won't be long before families everywhere are unwrapping their parcels around the tree, but you can also give the planet a gift this year and recycle your Christmas waste.

Most types of wrapping paper, cards and trees can be recycled through Preston's household recycling scheme.

To make Preston a greener city this Christmas you can:

Use your red box for Christmas cards, cardboard and plastic bottles

Use your blue or yellow lidded box for wrapping paper (which is not coated with plastic or foil), paper, cans, clean foil and glass

Use your brown bin for Christmas trees, holly and all other compostable garden waste

Use your grey bin for other plastic packaging or any other non-recyclable waste
