Killkenny sending off.

According to SSN, if PNE appeal the sending off and proved it wasn't Kilkenny, Garner would then be automatically banned for 3 games.Should Kilkenny take one for the team??

that will be down to grayson that i saw a punch thrown by garner maybe wrong

According to the FA rules we HAVE to appeal if we know it was the wrong man sent off.

Otherwise the club can also face a charge.

Grayson has just been on the radio saying the sending off should have been two yellows, one for the foul and one for the arguing, and that the culprit was probably Welsh, who is due to serve a suspension this weekend anyway, for bookings he picked up against Tranmere, when he was player of the month, and season, last week.
Think Welsh has only been booked twice this season (Bradford and Notts County games)

Another angle to think about is that if the FA decide to wipt out Kilkenny red card & decide Garner only deserves a yellow card for his action. Then Garner would be sent off for picking up 2 yellow cards & then only serves a 1match ban instead.
Would be difficult for them to do that, as, had he had a yellow early in the game, he could argue that he would have been more cautious in his approach. If FA do take that approach though, it would be seen to have a fair effect

I have no doubt that the FA and referees assoc are struggling this morning with how to deal with this without making more of a fuk up of it!

1. Was it a sending off?
2. Who was it?
3. Wrong man was dismissed.
4. What evidence is there to sort the mess?
5. Assessors report will no doubt show officials had a very bad evening.

That ref has caused some real issues with this !

Some decisions to be made there.

And quickly.

The referee's report may also influence the outcome. If the 4th official has told him that he'd sent the wrong man off (which seemed to be the case) I assume that would have to be included in the refs report. In addition it's also mentioned on another thread that the Chris Robertson booking was also a case of mistaken identity. The actual culprit had already been booked and therefore should have also received his marching orders, unbelievable !

Best approach...... Shhhh, say nowt and hope it all goes away... you never know the FA might just do the same ! :)

I think if PNE keep quite about the Red card & the FA found out that we deliberately kept quite about it they can give us a hefty fine under a misconduct charge.

If this is the case, why does the totally incompetent ref who made terrible decisions all night, this included, get away scot free

Bloody sky aren't helping publicising it.

We are going to get penalised TWICE.

Losing Kilkenny last night (although we won but players expended much more energy) and then garner will most likely get banned for 3 games.

How is that any sort of injustice? In fact there was probably a couple of advantages for us. If Garner had been correctly dismissed, then

  • there would be a fair argument that we would not have won the game.
  • the other 10 players would have had their energy depleted, just the same
  • Kilkenny would have been one of those players. At least he should be fresh for Saturday!

But he isn't eligible to play Saturday.
