January 2026 - Transfer Rumours and Discussions

Maybe one to look at in January.

Stoke just have so much quality at the top end of the pitch at the moment and hes struggled for game time.

Can’t be recalled yet so that guy is talking rubbish, but imagine he will be given he’s out of the squad

Not sure I’d waste a loan slot on someone that will be a bench player. Rather put it towards the defence

Good point, i imagine he will end up at another team in the division.

How's he confused defensively on the right?
Remember the Hull match - both their goals came from attacks down our right in which Small just didn't know where to put himself and was completely bypassed. On the left he is a completely different player.

Offiah like any wingback needs the support of a strong RCB to be attacking and in Storey he hasn’t got that. All is well when the opposition don’t have an attacking threat down the right but if they do even Pol struggles (eg Monga Leicester and Dembele QPR …..) Offiah should be playing RCB driving forward the wingback to attack. How you can suggest Devine in the engine room! that’s a wingback baffles me when Devine can barely get through 90 mins🤷‍♂️!!

I am not suggesting Devine as a permanent choice for right wing-back but he is tenacious as well as pacy and skillful and I think that he could make an effective attacking option in that position. He has shown he can make useful contributions from the right - he did so for the cross that led to our first goal on Saturday - and a formation with Devine there and as I suggested Frokjaer more centrally supporting Dobbin and Osmajic would have a lot of creativity and goalscoring potential. As I keep stressing I am not advocating any of the players I have suggested for the right wing-back position lately as permanent choices but just as stopgaps until we at least get Valentin back. Offiah as you say is really a right-sided defender and his ideal position in the present formation would be right centre-back - though I think he could also play right-back in a back four - but at the moment Storey really is making that position his own. Anyhow time to focus on tonight.

That's nothing to do with him being confused because he's playing on the right, that's just a weakness in his defense game. He's ok when he's defending in a 1v1 situation, but his awareness and reactions are poor. It's happened on both sides. The only difference is it's not cost a goal yet on the left. But it's happened.

Think Celtic were rumoured for Louie Barry at some point in last year. Not sure if that was the club or Brendan Rodgers interest.

Probably the best Villa can do at this point, sell him for a couple of million with decent sell on clause and if he scores loads at Celtic and gets european experience then someone in this league might then sign him for bigger fee.

a lot of talk about potential loan signings, but we can only have 5 in a matchday squad and we already have 4 loan players, so unless one of them gets recalled or we send one back, we'll only be getting 1 player in on loan in January

Dutch league is wank, he wouldn't score ten in the Championship where players have upper body strength.

Do they not have upper body strength in league 1? Scored 10 goals there and would have been 19/20 at the time I think.

I'd say it's far more likely he's developed into a very decent player for this level. He wasn't even that bad for us at all during his time here. All round game was good, just missed a few chances and obviously had the bad injury just as he was getting going.

He was gash for us, and he's now performing in a slow-paced, less than physical league. Will Keane would hit double figures over there.

He could've just got better. He was only 20 when he joined us.

I don't think he was anywhere as bad as you're making out, but his finishing did let him down. The way we play at the moment would've suited him better than how we played under Lowe.

My point is, he scored 10 goals in league 1 from attacking midfield so the physicality/upper body strength of the league argument is irrelevant imo.

Each to their own regarding his performances for us. His loan could have obviously gone better so I can see why people don't rate him but I thought it was fairly obvious that there was a decent player in there and is now thriving 3 years later in a better team than ours now that he's developed more.

He was a 20 year old kid when he was here and struggled for goals...that doesn't mean he's shit. Not saying he's a world beater because the Dutch league isn't the best..but it's hardly pub level. Go Ahead Eagles beat Villa the other week and Alkmaar (Parrots club) competed with the likes of Villa, Tottenham, Roma, Galatasaray in recent years. They're no mugs.

Cannon starting for Sheffield United which is a surprise considering he couldn’t make the bench at the weekend. Last chance saloon you feel.

I still think he’ll end up here in January.
did ok, but no better than Jebbo... cannon? or archer? We are better than we were so we should move on if we want to improve our 1st XI.
