Kevin Kilbane

Perhaps he doesn't like Westley, I imagine there are plenty of people on this forum who would write much worse things about PNE

In his column accused Simmonsen of deliberately time wasting at the end of the game. Youd think someone who claims his first love is PNE would at least check out the facts before writing stuff like that.

A bit of respect lost for you there Im afraid.

Unless I've missed it, he doesn't specifically mention Simonsen. There were other things going on (as with any team), like taking time over throws, goal kicks etc. There may even have been another 'injury' near the end, I can't recall. I don't think Kilbane is anti Preston at all. Rightly or wrongly though, he is clearly anti Westley and in that, is no different to around 40%-50% of PNE fans (depending on when they are asked).

Its odd how he doesnt mention that Coventry did the same when they were leading 1-0. One substitution, when i watched it back, took the best part of a minute as he casually strolled from one side of the pitch to the other.

Sorry, can you point out where he accused Simmonsen of wasting time?

All I can see is him telling it like it is, Westley has some, shall we say, unsavory tactics.

I don't think he was bias during the game. The lad spoke a lot of sense.

However, on the Simmo situation.. not as much!

aye doesn't mention Simmonsen... He winds up opposition coaches and managers and late on Thursday night was using unnecessary tactics to try and waste time.

Id say, as we were only leading for a short time, its clear what he was talking about especially as the 2 commentators said the same. Still, I guess right now this is what people want to hear.

I'm supportive of GW and what he's trying to do but I'm big enough to agree I don't like these tactics either and I'm sure many agree, totally unnecessary and backfired once again.

Absolutely and there isn't a thing that Kilbane wrote that wasn't true (apart from the obvious error re Irvine). He was also excellent on the TV, totally unbiased and very knowledgeable - as he is when doing radio co comentary.

If Simonsen doesn't go down then the ref plays less stoppage time, then Cov have less time to score equaliser/winner.

No sympathy from me when time-wasters don't prosper.

Westley must be approaching 100 substitutions made throughout the season and what percentage of these have actually benefitted performance/result.
Latest example was bringing the donkey Procter on, for their winning goal he allowed their player to come inside and get a shot on goal which Simonsen parried straight to Clarke.

Simonsen was injured though and could be out for a couple of months with a knee problem. Beavon was also injured whilst shooting and had to come off- he is a doubt to play tomorrow.

I agree in general though that Westley has made mistakes with his substitutes this year and they have cost us. Brentford at home is a good example.

You're aware Simonsen is actually injured aren't you?
