Fennel: vile raw, even worse cooked all with an overwhelmingly unsubtle taste of aniseed.....pointless.

If you say so, I just find them bland and can't see what they offer to anything. I'll admit I'm no chef though.

You could argue that many things are bland in isolation.
But rose veal is more acceptable
It's no different than spring lamb
The animal is not crated and forced to eat milk powder
I am quite happy to eat rose veal
