Match Day - Middlesbrough v PNE - 16/03/2021 - KO:19:00 - Championship

You'll be pleased to know in 3240 first half minutes Preston (at home) and Luton (away); have combined to score a total of 7 first half goals this season. So Saturday should be a humdinger. Dont be late! :)
Can’t wait! 😂

I think we’d all agree we were a bit unlucky last night to a large extent. OG was 1 of those things & although Browne was stupid & deserved to go the other lad should’ve gone as well. Would it have made a difference? We’ll never know.

However it’s all about results as even AN would concede & for whatever reason it’s another defeat. I honestly don’t think we’ll go down so can’t wait for this season to be over.

I’m sure he will go in the summer & we’ll see where we go from there.

The only player trying to pick the players up after the own goal was Iversen.
Out of his area shouting encouragement & you could hear those trusty gloves clapping away.
Disallowed goal, you could hear the gloves again.
Shown more leadership in 2 examples than Browne has in months.
Iversen has the best view of the pitch, constantly verbalising, encouraging, informing.
Could do worse as captain.
And a quality keeper.
Got to sign.

He should go now, give a new manager the remainder of the season to assess the squad allowing him to decide who he does and does not require for next season and the positions he requires to strengthen and were new faces are required. 👍😀

Even allowing for the sending off I thought we were pretty rubbish last night, including the first half. Not quite as bad as we were against Wycombe - there was a moment when we actually put more than five passes together in their half - but if simply playing better than we did against Wycombe is the benchmark then we’re in serious trouble. If it wasn’t for Iversen we’d still have gone in at half-time two or three down.

There are a lot of things wrong at the club and Browne then being given a red for such petulance just emphasised that further, not that any of us needed convincing. It did briefly flash through my mind that the captain might have been trying to put the final nail in the manager’s coffin but that was unworthy me of...I think.

Beyond that, the players didn’t exactly stop scrapping but it felt once every 3 or 4 minutes that Middlesbrough were going to score again. They wasted break after break and of course Iversen pulled a worldie save out of the locker. It’s interesting how the old adage that ‘it’s harder to play against ten men’ only ever seems to apply when we’re the ones with 11!

Ultimately, it was another loss and another unpleasant watch, compounded by further absurdities in terms of starting line-up, substitutions and strange comments to the media afterwards. The reason for Gordon not starting is absurd and shows how the Neil today is not the one we had originally.

I respect those who have a different opinion and I understand some of the mitigating factors but it’s really hard to see, on balance, how it suits either party’s aspirations for him to stay any longer. I don’t want this to keep limping on, perhaps nicking a point here and there to temporarily take the pressure off. It’s time to move on and it has been for a while.

Fingers crossed for a 'corner flag statement' today!

Just hope Trev has the balls to do it - will obviously cost a bit but needs must.

Trevor is too busy with his horses this week to be listening to any truth about his crap football team manager. Anyway his advisor will be backing AN so any flak is directed the managers way - I bet he has shares in teflon

Only two ‘bits of luck’ from this game

Browne won’t be playing the next

And Neil won’t be there either (hopefully)

With next match being Luton and then three we will almost certainly on present form take nothing from.

I have to revise my earlier opinion

Relegation is definitely on the cards, because it’s hard to see were any further points are coming from

Does anyone know the ID of the alleged player thrown off the Preston team bus at scotch corner....??
Most intresting topic of the nite....!!
