The Question Time Thread

Anyone watch last night? I do wonder, with leading Tories still going “all-in” on this policy- and again calling for changes in the laws on human rights legislation because of this ruling, …might the Tories start to change tack, given the REMARKABLE response to a question whether a single audience member supported the Rwanda policy.

Its objectionable that this govt believes that if it repeats the mantra that one of its policies is the will of the majority of the ‘people’, and that those statements are continually repeated by its poodles in the media, that enough of the electorate will start believing that it is actually factually true and might consider that maybe the policy cant be that immoral or bad after all.

I think you’re missing the point tbh. It was a real protracted tumbleweed moment last night. An audience including presumably over 40 % Tory voters.

People are rejecting this policy despite the onslaughts of the Express, Mail… and the repeated broadcasts from Tory ministers. Public support seems to have fallen to close to zero.

Its good that the mantra is being challenged. It probably wont stop Ministers repeating it since it hopes to convince the many that consume it every hour of every day, even if they dont agree with the specific policy itself, that the Tory policies are representative of a majority view. And that maybe thats sufficient for them to cast them another vote next time. Many vote with the flow.

I watched all of it, last night.

From a Pro Conservative audience they got a good mullering again last night.

Its got to the stage that Tory supporters are starting to recognise that theyve allowed their party to be completely hijacked by the far right.

These dimmos that call themselves a govt genuinely believe that the majority of Brits think like they do when it comes to immigration.

Seem to have dropped a bollock with their guest list tonight. If they are pulling apart the blokes tweets that he deleted how did they let him sit on the panel with no opposing view

Do you know what the tweet actually said? I didn’t catch it among the shouting.

This article references one tweet but not sure if its the same one referenced tonight

Middle East eye, a balanced and moderate opinion....

Using “plain and simply historic Islamic/islamist bloodlust, passed down through the generations from birth”. and “Islamic bloodlust” and a Muslim “death cult” to describe the actions of Hamas and its supporters is 100% accurate. It is the reason for its existence.

No one is suggesting that they mean all muslims, only those opposing those words.

Just because some muslims may be offended, and it "may" inflame tensions, does not mean the difficult conversations around what is actually happening should not happen. That is how people get away with nasty shit. People have been cowed into not talking about subjects like that out of fear of being labelled silly names by the usual fuckwits. Thankfully, people are now standing up for themselves more.

Fuck religion off and the nutters that exploit it.................... And then all the motive we have left is Greed ... Nothing would change sadly, just other avenues
