Youth Team & Central League Thread 2024/25

Seeing as we lost the table in the big reset, here's how things stand for the u19s again...

If we can ensure safety over the Easter week-end I really would like to see Rodriguez-Gentile get a few minutes on the field for the First Team before the end of the season.
Once we're safe, i'd like to see is drop anyone who'se out of contract and won't be re-signing and give a few of the kids a chance to show what they can do in mens football, one or two of them might suprise us, or at the very least, put them in the shop window for a decent loan next season

The fact that the better youngsters are barely getting any time even when we don’t have any midfielders suggests there’s zero chance FRG gets anywhere near the pitch

Normally, I'd be in full agreement with you, but realistically the ones who aren't already out on loan are miles off it at this stage.

Why though? So Craig can tell us it's been another great season for academy players getting valuable first-team minutes?

When in fact it's just "competition winner" stuff because there's nothing to play for and the squad is threadbare.

Nelson is the one that should get gametime. Gone on loan to a level around league 2 quality and been one of the best performers. Should now get the first half of the season with the team to see if he can cut it at this level

If not, loan him out to the football league in Jan

Time will tell whether he's going to make it with us, or be another Adam O'Reilly but Kitt is certainly making the step up and learning from each loan experience. Do think he's worth having around the squad now because of his versatility.

Noah Mawene is the one who concerns me though. Has he gone in at too high a level to begin with and not been ready for that standard of football/training? Haven't heard too much from his spell at Newport but I've got everything crossed that he hasn't done a Seani Maguire and trashed his hamstring already when I thought he'd be knocking on the first team door next year.

We REALLY need to see what Theo Mawene and FRG can do out on loan to assess them properly now. Crucial year ahead for Filipe now if he's going to have a professional career. Is he clinical enough?
