Not sure tbh, I know he met a lass in later life and moved to Morecambe. I know this as he once bought me a pint in the Railway!

I dunno that maths teacher, the Maths teacher the Boys dropped their pens for was Mrs Ashton when I was there. Iremeber Mr Hoyle, hated his other art teacher, Cutler. Hughes was my geography teacher.

Happened to drive past Whinfield Place this week, I'm sure the tin houses are gone now (or been re-clad or something). Does that sound right?

They still show as tin on Google Street View but those images are years old.

Yes it you Zoom out you can see they have been modified now. The old steel and Roofs have been replaced. The ones on Grange have been done to. There are still a few Tin House, but they Private owned.
